Cosmetics & Personal Care Packaging

Cosmetics and beauty industry creates 120 billion units of packaging every year.

The packaging is the number one contributor to plastic production in the world and offender for plastic waste pollution. In 2015, research found that packaging accounted for 146 million tonnes of plastic every year.

Our personal hygiene products are made of Bamboo fiber or PLA. They are 100% plants made from sustainable & renewable resources. Fully natural & carbon free.

Plastic is not the only waste created in the name of beauty and personal care; it equally creates an excess of cellophane, cardboard and paper waste.

At NCD we saw the need to research for ecologic beauty and cosmetic packaging, what we are presenting today is only the start. Our research and development team is constantly looking for more creative alternatives and innovative ideas in order to offer the best solution to the current problem. Our main goal as we research is to divert waste from going into landfills and reduce the amount of overall excess packaging.

We have found an excellent alternative to plastic packaging for cosmetics in Bamboo, PLA & Wheatstraw which are all made from renewable sources, all compostable materials, they do not alter their content product’s composition or quality and most importantly they are completely natural causing no harm to the environment once properly discarded.

Benefits of bamboo products, why are they so environment friendly?:

Our bamboo products are 100% Made from Sustainably Grown Bamboo; Bamboo grows in a very short time up to 1 m a day, considered as grass.

Bamboo material is naturally anti-fungal, Odour & Mould Resistant.

Strong and durable.

100% compostable.

Why are PLA personal hygiene products are a better alternative then plastic conventional option?:

PLA is expected to biodegrade within 6-12 months.

PLA is biodegradable under industrial composting conditions, starting with a chemical hydrolysis process, followed by the microbial digestion, to ultimately degrade the PLA.

PLA can be incinerated, leaving no residue and producing energy.

They are everybody’s small changes that in the end becomes a significant collective environmental impact.
